Gaaah.
So Tuesday, the Escape decided to piss coolant all over the gas station close to the house, so I figured the time had come. There had been drips before, but this was a torrent.
Tuesday became a four-teeshirt day, as every time I turned around I had soaked another one.it was getting nasty. but the new rad went in, and it’s done. What a pain. And all manner of other crap harshed my mellow, but I am caught up at work, and things are under control, and there are rumors of change in the wind… Good change, I think, but change nonetheless. I am gaining on all the things I’m doing, but it is taking such a godawful time to make it all happen. Meanwhile I’m too busy to write much, and while I watch everyone’s sites and feeds, I only get involved in things at the most minimalist levels. So be patient, and I will return with tons of tales to tell when the busy has fallen into the rearview mirror.

On yer way home that day?
Oh, I was done by that time. The life had already been sucked out of me. It’s not surprising that it’s hard to notice, I haven’t a lot to begin with.
Hope the change in the wind (wings?) is positive for you! Can’t think of anyone else I would like to see, make it at least a half step closer to “the good life”.
Is that radiator like mine, where you have to replace it, the A/C condenser, and the transmission fluid cooler as a single unit?
Because I know all about that. Spent a week in Eaton, Ohio one night waiting for the Ford dealer to open to fix it. The transmission fluid cooler had bust, and it looked like someone had spilled a Dr. Pepper on the car at 70MPH…
Similar. It is indeed a challenge.
Ugh, my future.
I have a 2003 Ram 4×4 with the 4.7 and 180,000 miles.
I’m pretty sure it needs a head gasket. It sometimes makes burnt coolant smell at startup and has pushed the lower hose off the radiator a few times.
I dread that task on the SOHC engine so I’ve been putting it off.
There is a 2000 F150 with the 5.4 and 242,000 miles for sale near me.
I took the Dodge to Carmax to see if they’d make an offer remotely close. Nope. $1,500.
I’ll just have to be careful with the Dodge awhile longer. The popping the hose thing usually coincides with matting the go pedal so I have to learn to control myself.
Oh, forgot to mention the F150 has an asking price of $3,900
Does it use coolant? I mean do you have to keep adding?
all cars fail at some point. Just need to read the tea leaves.
Lemme guess. Plastic side tank cracked? Happened on the Exploder. Gave plenty of warning but took forever to pinpoint the leak. Thankfully I found it before it let go entirely.
Prezactly.
Hmm…the wife had a coolant issue with her 05 Caravan the other (very hot) day. I need to check to make sure her plastic tank isn’t breached…
Loses about a quart of coolant every 1000 miles. Don’t know how much is consumed vs. comes out the overflow tube.
Do what you gotta, we’ll be around. :-)
