Huge thunderstorm
It was brilliant. Massive peals of thunder. AND now, for reasons unknown, Council Bluffs smells like a tire fire in a septic tank.

But Council Bluffs always smells like that.
Council Bluffs always smells. Not sure why, but across the river is Omaha, which is more famous, but smells bad as well.
Cedar Rapids smelled like that when the wind was off the sewage treatment plant.
“smells like a tire fire in a septic tank.”
I am SO stealing that.
I grew up in Staten Island, NY, home of what was the world’s largest landfill (Fresh Kills Landfill, now closed and turned into a park). There were luxury apartments near it, where you couldn’t use your balcony in the summer if the wind was blowing the wrong way. We won’t even discuss the seagulls.
Paper mills and salt marsh contribute to the summertime aroma of Disgusta, Georgia.
Lol. Yeah, that’s a special aroma, isn’t it?
The fish factory across the bay from NAS Keflavik was no picnic either, when the wind came from that direction. Amazing what your nose can get used to over time.
I’ll be in Council Bluffs next week. I hope the wind changes direction by then
