A painful number
of people I know are fond of denigrating people of faith- many of them ostensibly people of faith themselves- using terms like “Taliban like” to describe the actions of Christians they don’t like.
Many of these people are otherwise thoughtful and intelligent. I wonder that the irony of their position is lost so completely on them; they practice, vehemently, the exact sort of intolerance they profess to despise.
Often in between jobs I listen to Rush, because rush. (I am always amused to find that most of his detractors are so much like him as to have attitudes indistinguishable from his). Anyway, here’s a bit he did on Tuesday that resonated.
“Liberalism exists in many ways as a force of nature or whatever political power aligned against the religious teachings and views of morality, virtue, discipline, temperance, you name it. The American left abhors these aspects of organized religion.”
“I think the thing liberals really love about gay marriage is how they get to ram it down the throats of the Christians. That’s what I think, how they just get to smack ’em upside the head, gay marriage, supporting LGBT, normalizing this and that. I think it’s a direct assault on organized religion.”
yeah, I know, I’m a hatey mchaterson. And I’m a poopy head. But only to people who never listen to what I say, only what the voices in their head think I said. Anyone who actually knows me knows better, people would rather cling to their misperceptions about me than bother to get to know who I am.

Not long after a local station started carrying him, lady I knew made some comment about ‘his constant racist statements’, and I asked “What racist statements?”
“What?”
“What has he said that’s racist?”
Didn’t have a single example, just the usual “He says this stuff ALL THE TIME!” Etc.
Which was when I first learned that to too many people ‘racist’ means “Says things I don’t approve of!”
Evil is always with us and it is what can FUBAR the most altruist plans.
The year is 2000. Before we got married.
My wife: “I can’t believe you listen to that guy.”
Me: “How can you say that? You’ve never listened to him, and don’t know a thing about him that your liberal parents and liberal friends haven’t told you, so on what, exactly, do you base your statement?”
My wife: “….”
Yeah, well, I married her anyway. Jews own suffering.
I’m still waiting for the liberal book which will detail all the times that Rush has been wrong. About anything.
A Chick Tract would be a longer tome.
And yeah, they’ve never listened to him.

It’s like the claim that The Drudge Report is a conservative site when in reality it’s just a site with links to news stories written by the rest of the press.
Liberal guy I used to know, in the same conversation, got mad at Limbaugh for “hasty generalization”, then later said that “all Christians” want to kill abortionists.
Meanwhile, Limbaugh keeps getting more and more rich even as the libs continue to celebrate his ever-mounting irrelevance. Exactly the way the Japanese military won battles that occurred ever closer to Japan.
Most attacks on Christians, or those of religious faith on line, I’ve noticed, can be reduced to “because”.
There are references to “Science” when it’s apparent they know none.
Possibly off topic, but related. Talking online to a friend of a Facebook friend re abortion and I realized that they are not interested in anything that contradicts what they have chosen to believe.
Which reminds me not to be the same way. Please, tell me what you think I’m missing, point out the flaw in my reasoning, logic, or faith. I’m listening. But “because” isn’t going to change my mind.
I’ve had it with the GOPe playing along with the SSM.
Conservatives don’t want to shut down the government trying to defund Planned Parenthood.
Obama wants to shut-down the government so he can continue to subsidize baby cannibalization.
This is all PC games, and so called Christians are probably false flag types… BUT, I will admit there are some ‘strange’ little cliques out there…
