Work tires based on longevity. The harder tread compounds mean they don’t grip so well in wet. Add a strong crosswind, and expressway driving can become very busy work.

Heh.
Back in my dim and distant youth, I couldn’t afford a car, so I rode to and from work atop a Suzuki TS185 scrambler (on/off road bike). All went well, unless the notorious ‘Cape Doctor’ was blowing (a south-westerly gale that plagues Cape Town from time to time).
One day I came into town and the wind hit me at just the right angle as I passed beneath the Civic Center. I was pushed right across five lanes of traffic, from left side to right side, and there wasn’t a damn thing I could do about it, thanks to the off-road tires on the bike. Only by the grace of God were there no other cars with me so early in the morning, so I got away with it. I came out of the other side shaken, pale and terrified!
Oh yeah… sigh…
Soft tires can be the difference. Tires that wear like iron and grip like a gorilla. I would stand in line for those.
The line is right next to the one for unicorn.
Well, if they made one I would have them. And who knows, someday a rhino might get all jiggy with a horse and wa la, a unicorn.
Hee hee.
Yes, i know material science and the laws of physics would have to be severely twisted, but a guy can dream.
