I have a dream
And as often as not that dream is a nightmare. Dreampt of a future where “unemployed” people were given “Jobs” that predominantly consisted of working in, or operating, whorehouses. They were located on almost every corner and were staffed by workers paid by the government. Attendance was mandatory, and they had (Supposedly) something for everyone.
Since they were all government workers they were, of course, inefficient, surly, annoying to be near, and unionized. You were expected to pay a visit every week, where you would be paired up with a “Servicer” of the FedGov’s choosing (A personality profile insured a “Perfect match”) who would insult and abuse you, making rude comments about your body, and if you couldn’t perform you were assessed an additional fee.
Muslims could opt out, but the only way Christians could was if they donated 20% of their post-tax income to the house closest to them, which meant the houses in religious communities were unspeakably wealthy, and had huge political power. Since everyone, even the hideous and disturbed, were getting laid on a regular basis, nobody would lift a finger to do anything about it. The houses were called “President Sander’s Health Zones”.

That’s impressive.
Don’t give them any ideas.
Gives a new meaning to getting screwed by the government, don’t it?
Wasn’t there a story going around about the government taking over a legal brothel in Reno and, attempting to operate it? And they lost money, proving that the government can lose money even selling sex and alcohol?
It’s the old “the f**king you get, for the screwing you did”.
And yes, the Bread n’ Circus crowd would likely consider that a good deal for all concerned. Long as they’re guaranteed their bread, circuses and sex, they’re as satiated as an 1890’s Chinaman laid out in his opium den.
We all know how China wrapped that one up though, right?

You’ve got to stop reading Margaret Atwood. :D
Jenny
got to wonder what you eat before bed time.
I was waiting for the part where they hang you by your ankles and have a midget come out to throw peanuts at you while yelling “Verboten!”
Scary… And impressive…
Once upon a time, and I can’t remember where, I read an article that women on Welfare in the Netherlands (where prostitution is legal) were being encouraged to prostitute themselves to get off the welfare rolls. That persuaded me against legalizing prostitution because it is a slippery slope from permitted, to encouraged, to required. Or so it seems to me.
This is the sort of thing that happens when you’ve been reading Yevgeny Zamyatin’s “We” in bed while American cable news plays in the background …
Well said. lol.
