Christmas dinner
was a nice prime rib (On sale at Jewel, for about 1/3 what I ordinarily spend, and as good a quality or better than I’m used to getting from my butcher) Baked potatos like 16″ softballs, green bean casserole. A simple meal but oh, so tasty.
And the farts. Acrid is an insubstantial word to describe them, but not much else comes close. Lets just say that this afternoon’s nap was not entirely voluntary.
Well done. Merry Christmas and St Stephens day.
I barbecue/smoked a medium sized fresh turkey, made about a cubic foot of homemade sausage stuffing and half a gallon of gravy. I fixed a big plate of celery sticks, green onions, and three kinds of pickled olives. Then we took it all to our daughter’s house. She had baked pies, made scalloped corn, and steamed carrots with butter on ’em.
She has had a two year fight with debilitating inner workings, and is now recuperating and gaining her weight back. It is delightful seeing her eat, get around easily and actually “do” things (cook) for the last couple of months.
Happy, thankful

A belated, but heartfelt, Merry Christmas from out here in the hinterlands!
We had the family (kids, grandkids, BIL (wife and nephew), and soon to be daughter,(middle boy’s fiance) over for Christmas eve dinner/festivities.
Had a close to 30lb crown roast, the requisite green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, and cranberries. And more cakes, pies, and cookies than the law allows!!
Sent a third of the roast home with our eldest, and the last third was all but finished off last night (with enough left over for an attempt at pulled pork sandwiches sometime this week).
No major amounts of fumage, but holy cats, the resulting tonnage deposited in the porcelain bowl in the past day or so…
Lol. Yeah I know that’s true!
