IT”S ALIVE!!
Yes, it took a bunch of troubleshooting and became a lesson in humility, but the HONDA IS RUNNING.
It runs smooth as silk, now, tons of power, trans shifts nicely, yadda yadda yadda.
Problem? Oh, the SPARK PLUG WIRES WERE REVERSED on 2 and 3.
No idea how we did that. Or how we missed it. But it’s fixed. And I’d rather be lucky than good anyday. Just goes to show you process of elimination DOES work. Now I gotta figre out how to get the bitch out of my driveway, and back into my sister’s. It’s gonna take a little shakedown to get the last little bugs out and get everything working perfectly, but we’ll be OK.
Good lord, it’s good to see the end of this bastard in sight.

Congrats, Og!
And yeah, either me or Capn’Mo reversed a pair of wires on AFLPITA, too. I’m blaming him :)
Pretty good feeling when you turn the last corner, and see the finish line in front of you.
So you didn’t do the trany swap or you did? Oh and it’s a Honda how did you get “tons of power” out of it? :)
tons of power for a 1.5 liter honda. Didn’t need a tranny. Just couldn’t do squat on two cylinders.
Gotta love them Hondas. Good to hear, og!
Good to hear. It’s always something minor, isn’t it?
yep. Just found the first shakedown item, one of the idler pulleys wasn’t tight and came loose. Have to fix that this afternoon.
Mine’s got a 1.3L and will run down the interstate just fine on 1 cylinder if it’s flat ground. Just over 70000 miles and not a rattle to be heard, I will buy another when this one is done.
I worship at the alter of The Machine.
My dad has worked on everything from jet engines on down, and I remember as a lad, reaching in under the cowl of a Rolls Royce turbofan engine on a Boeing 707 to loosen a nut that the men couldn’t get at. At 6 years old, I was a hero because I could access difficult spots on that engine with my skinny arms that the men couldn’t reach. Max Ward (of Wardair fame) bought me a Coca-Cola from the company pop machine and congratulated me in front of the guys for saving hours of extra work.
Have you a son or daughter to share this success with Og? If so, please make a point of bring them in on this ASAP. There is something special about putting Fire In The Machine, and you should share it with the younger hominids in your tribe if you are able. Such memories last a lifetime.
:)
