Get a grip, willya?
Ktreva is looking for grips for her new toy, and wishes they came in pink.
Now, I don’t want pink grips- but I have always wanted nice wood grips for the Ruger, and today, I got them
Ken Enright at Altamont Company is a busy guy, has a bunch of things on his plate. A busy enough guy that without the pad of paper he invariably carries to write notes on, he’d never be able to keep track of the thousands of irons he has in the fire.
So it was with unadulterated glee that I opened the package from him today, containing my new Ruger grips.
Now, I have a crappy digital camera, which barely does the grips justice, but let me tell you, these are tasty beyond belief. Highly figured walnut burl. Engraved with the Ruger logo, and my initials. Polished and finished so they feel- well, they feel great.
I wish that Ken would start doing more retail business, he mostly sells through places like Gun Gear or sells direct to mfrs, but man, does he make nice stuff.

Beautiful.
Sweeeeeeeet!
Mind if I ask how much those set you back?
I do a lot of work for him on his machines. It was a freebie.
I think you should have used the initials “OG”… :)
Nice grips!
I tend to go more for function than looks in handgun grips. A friend shuddered when put black neoprene Uncle Mike’s grips on my Browning Hi Power Practical. I just ordered up a set of black plastic Vintage brand grips for my Bisley Vaquero. I found the original rosewood grips slippery when the palms are the slightest bit perspired. With .44 Magnum recoil slippery is very bad. Also had too many beautiful wooden grips crack or get loose screws.
These are guaranteed not to crack. Aside from that, you have to use what you’re most comfy with. I had checkered grips with the Ruger, and after a couple hundred rounds my hands were like meat. THe smooth grips (on a target gun) are desireable if you’re gonna shoot a LOT.
Niiiiice… :)
Very nice!!
Jay – That IS “OG” carved on there. It’s just a really blurry picture :-)
