When we moved in here the back of the house was under attack by raccoons. I had a roofing company come make things tight again, and they have been now for a little while. I’m about to get re-roofed, though, and it’s distressing to do the prep work. They really didn’t make much of an effort to get things right, so I’m struggling with some repairs that need to be done before the roofer arrives.
Still, it will be nicer to have things snugged up before winter, and that, at least, is in the works.
What kind of damage do raccoons do to the house?
They eat it.
yep. big holes to. It is good to get the house ready for winter.
I’ve seriously considered copper-cladding the entire house.
I had an addition put on my house and had the whole thing re-roofed in the process. I was standing in the yard talking to the contractor when the roofer called down to me from atop the house. He was inspecting the old shingles around the chimney and wanted to know who the hell built the house because they did a “shitty job” on the shingles. I replied that he’s standing right here beside me go ahead and ask him why he did such a shitty job on the shingles yourself.
You should have seen the look on the roofers face. Talk about an uncomfortable silence.
