We are diminished as a race.
Gene Wilder was an incredible artist, with an incredible range. He was an incredibly funny man when he wanted to be, and his manic expressiveness has never been duplicated. But there is also this.
It’s only with the heart that one can see clearly.
What’s essential is invisible to the eye.
wondered what happened to him. I guess at 83 things can happen.
Oh, that always makes me weep, it’s such a beautiful scene. He is so many emotions, apprehension, wistfulness, hope … love … joy … sadness.
That last scene in the wheat field … those eyes. Always tears me up.
He had a long and mostly good life. He did some good things, he left the world a better place in a lot of ways, he made us laugh and cry and feel … that’s quite a gift to this hard old world.
Would that we all can say the same at the ending of days.

I saw that movie (based on one of my favorite books as a child) in Radio City Music Hall on a class trip, maybe third or fourth grade, and completely forgot that he was in it until you brought it up. An incredible talent, there aren’t may people who can combine humor, insanity and compassion like he could.
Thanks for the memory Og.
There was an innocence about Gene that was irresistible. RIP
