Still going nuts getting ready for winter.
Lots done but lots yet to do. Summer’s back is broken; we may yet have some warm days but the AC is off for good and I have even had the furnace on. The electric mattress heater has even seen a night or two. I have to be careful with that, though, the dreams are very weird.

Hmmmm, my wife is in peri-menopause (meaning hot flashes), so it’s a good thing we DON’T have a mattress heater……
At least once or twice a night I’m awakened by her thrashing to get the covers off.
Summer is indeed broken, we’re losing a minute of daylight each day at either end. We have a mattress-pad heater with controls on either side and as a back-sleeper I find my back gets warmer than my front.
I ran the heat the other morning when it was in the 50’s and rainy, just to get the damp out of the air, but otherwise I’ve left it on “cool” and it isn’t running very much.
We need to replace old windows before we can get them open, unfortunately. They’re all paint-welded and some of them are even nailed shut…thanks Dad ;-)
I have two mattress heaters.
Six pound cat and twelve pound cat.
Iris doesn’t count, she’s in the next county over, mattress-wise.

Winter is getting close. We had fresh rain here and the truck was a little loosey goosey so I suppose it is time to load up the sand bags. 5 of them usually make it behave like a tank as oppose to an elephant on roller skates.
Not really ready for the white stuff.
My electric blanket is getting cool spots, so the mattress warmer – does it also warm the sheets and cover if you turn it on before bed? How long does it take this thing to get comfy warm? Sounds like if I have a good enough blanket, this alone should do the trick, though I am concerned about fire problems, but I had a grandfather who had an electric blanket flame up on him and that may have prejudiced me.
This is the one we have. It’s quite nice, and for the I think $50 we paid for it has lasted several years. And if you put the blankets over it, and turn it on before you get in bed, you get in a toasty warm bed.
