Houston, we have a puppy.
Picked up the puppy today:

cute little bugger. A little confused by the car ride. A little freaked at being away from mom for the first time. But, all in all, a nice looking dog. Wish me luck, I don’t expect to sleep a lot for a while.

When we first got Buster (my half cocker spaniel, half sneaky neighbor dog), he would cry incessantly anytime he couldn’t see us. As he wasn’t yet housebroken, he slept in his crate, and couldn’t see us – and cried, and cried.
This worked pretty well, though: I recorded about a minute of me talking to him, telling him he’s a good boy, etc, then set it to play back quietly on a loop, and put the speakers on the floor next to his crate. No more crying, he’d curl up and go to sleep listening to me. I think I put one of my tshirts that I’d cut the yard in with him, but don’t remember exactly.
And yes, your new puppy certainly is a cute little guy.
I covered the Steel City Kennel Club dog show today, and I thought of y’all since it was like a Beagle reunion up in there. Tons of cute pups. Also met three Pulis, which are BITCHIN if you’ve never seen them.
Is his name Houston?
Yeah— got a name yet?
OMG he’s adorable! Congratulations.
I agree with the Dragonlady…. he is soooo cute! take good care of that lil guy!
No name. Letting the oglet name him- within reason. (I don’t want to be yelling “fluffy!” when I’m hunting with the dog, it’s undignified.)
Ah… the “screaming the name in public” test… VERY important :-)
Aw, c’mon! I think Fluffy would be an awesome name for a hunting dawg. Kind of like naming a chihuahua “Killer.”
Or how about “Sue?”
He’s a CuteOverload contenda! As far as letting the oglet name him…I trust your supervision.
A couple of months after we lost our beloved Westie, we saw a lady walking a Westie puppy in our cul-de-sac. Of course we had to stop her and introduce ourselves, and yeah, got a little misty-eyed. What an adorable li’l guy. She said they let their 4-yr-old name him.
“Snowball”.
That was marginally cute when he was a puppy, but now it’s just kinda weird seeing him full-grown with that name. I wouldn’t want to shout it if I were calling him.
Cute little guy.
Oh Cuuuuuute!!! :)
Very cute.
Congrats on your new addition!
Very cute – even though I’m not in the market for a dog right now – I’ll come pet him for you. *grin* Have fun. Some people have good luck with a ticking clock in the crate with them – seems to calm some dogs. Our dog only whined about 1 night when we got her. We were very lucky.
Definitely an AWWWWW moment, there.

Aw! I’m not a dog person, but I am a beagle person. what a cutie pie!
ADORABLE!
