Wow
As usual I am up to my ass in alligators. I am coming up on my first anniversary at this gig, and I am very pleased to be here after a year. Like any gig, there are issues, and all the issues I see are solvable.
I also work with good people. And that was the predominant reason I chose this company over others. The other companies I interviewed with had nice people but when I interviewed here I knew these were people I could deal with for a long time.
Anyway, the travel has it’s moments but that sometimes just makes the coming home sweeter.
When you are up to your ass in alligators, make a few of them into shoes, a belt, and a briefcase.
The alligators won’t like you any more, but they’ll understand that as a better predator, they’d damned well better leave you alone.
Exactly. I do have some hide I have been thinking about making a holster.
I’m coming up on three years at this shop. While I’m keenly aware of the tech job market, I have no desire to go anyplace. I like my job!
Glad things are working out for ya!
Jobs can come and go, Glad you have one you like.
I’ve been with my employer so long (in my 23rd year) that it doesn’t make sense to up stakes and go somewhere else. I’m too close to retirement for that. In theory, I could retire in five years, take my SS and get a lower-paying, lower-stress job and we could get by without hitting the 401(k) — especially if the wife ever manages to leverage her MS for more $$$.
We’ll see how that works out :)
