Don’t wait.
Watching a special of Frank Frazetta called ‘Painting with fire’.
Decided to google the guy to find out when he died, and at least according to Wikipedia, he hasn’t yet.
Now, I realize this is a matter of taste on a lot of levels, but let’s get down to brass tacks: Love him or hate him, Frank helped change the face of Science Fiction and Fantasy. And painted a lot of damned fine women, with real curves, not the anorectic bitches you see today.
Frank is still around and still illustrating on his estate in Pennsylvania. His museum reopens for the season on May 1. If you live in the area it might be worth a trip.
Don’t wait till he’s dead to celebrate his life.

He used his wife as a model in a lot of his paintings. And I believe I recall that she is also an artist in his style.
Dear steve, I love you so much, to the owner of this blog – im sorry for using this space but you’re the first site that comes up for “love blog”.. so steve, search for “love” on the computer – once again,I love you, and Happy Anniversary.
He has not been in the best of health. But you are right Og, Frank Frazetta’s art rocks (if you’re a Molly Hatchet fan, you know what I mean). There are others who are simular in style (Boris) but Frazetta is the first and the best.
Spamfilters, while necessary, piss me off.
Tried doing a comment about this eight different ways and it says it’s “quetionable content) but doesn’t say what PART of the comment it doesn’t like. Grrr.
Oh wow. Really powerful work he has done. I really liked “Sun Goddess.”
Thanks for pointing me – his museum is getting saved in my “places to visit” file for sure.
Grau, for reasons I have yet to understand, you cannot use ellipses in comments.
If you like Frazetta’s work, check out Luis Royo and Boris Vallejo. Royo is my personal favorite.
I saw that documentary; as a longtime fan of Frazetta’s I enjoyed it quite a bit. I still have some old paperbacks (that cost between 35 to 50 cents each back then) with his covers; old stuff of ER Burroughs and Karl Wagner.
