I AINT NEVER GONNA BUY NOTHING MADE IN CHINA!!!
Good luck with that bunky.
See if you can find a computer that isn’t loaded with chinese made parts to type your rant on.
Chinese products have been a huge boon to our economy and our quality of life in a large number of ways. Nobody but the very wealthy would be able to afford flatscreen televisions, or cellphones, or computers. Mandating $15 an hour would make that cellphone cost half as much as your house.
Fact really is, it isn’t the mass produced chinesium stuff that is the concern, but the things like medecines, and there are, again, specific reasons why things are the way they are.
Meds are made in china because medical production is expensive. That Z pack they’re treating the rona with is about 18 cents a dose wholesale, and most medecines of that type are produced in china because the process is vile and pollutes and it is time consuming. EPA and OSHA and $15 an hour minimum wage drove that shit out of the country, and if you think it waqs because the pharma companies were greedy, take a look at what “Made here” prices would be for that shit. Pharma companies are looking to make their products to as many people as possible

Yep.
Cheap is its own mantra. Quality is always the piece that gets over looked.
I want to be sure the drugs I take are good and do not have a lot of stuff in them that will kill me.
That is one area I would pay for.
Paul, that sentiment is only valid if you’re actually the one paying for your meds at full price or are willing to absorb the entire cost increase in your co-pay. Otherwise you’re accepting the additional cost for someone else…
I would like to see less reliance on a single source for so much of our manufacturing. The reliance on what is essentially a single source is where the problems get magnified.
Absolutely true, Ruth, and this seems to be happening. We will see how it moves forward.
One thing the PRC hasn’t absorbed yet (and probably will not at this point) is the vast majority of microchip fabbing, which is still a big deal in the US. And most of what isn’t made here appears to be getting made in Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea.
That said, enough fabbing is done in the PRC to be a little concerning if you are interested in protecting your IP and other data.
Add to that when obamacare added a tax to all medical goods. Nothing is free. Not even “free” healthcare.
After mentioning the computers, TVs, cellphones, drugs, etc., remember, we don’t even make our own socks.
i buy cotton and wool socks made in America at Cabelas.
