Midwest Blogmeet
I will start this since I have had absolutely NO luck getting anyone to do any of the work.
I would like to see a blogmeet of Midwest Bloggers, though of course anyone would be welcome to attend, and I’m thinking the 23. 24, 25 of June, or the 15, 16, 17 of July. This is a suggestion only, I need to know who can come and when.
My very tentative plan of activities would involve arriving at Chicago Midway on the friday evening, dinner for whosoever can attend that evening at Klas or someplace similar. Saturday would be a range day either in a local Illinois club or a local Indiana club. Outdoors preferred. Potentially with a BBQ. Saturday evening dinner at someplace close to the city for everyone’s convenience. Sunday morning brunch and everyone hits the road for home. Anyone got any ideas otherwise? Please leave comments or post on your own blog.
UPDATE: IN CASE I DID NOT MAKE THIS CLEAR, THESE ARE “SUGGESTED” DATES. If you are not available, let me know the dates you ARE available. I want as many as possible to make it. So PUT THE DATES THAT ARE GOOD FOR YOU IN COMMENTS.

If you move it to next August I’ll be swinging
through your area on my way to Sturgis
It sounds like a local version of the Gunblogger Rendezvous scheduled for the first weekend in October in Reno. I hope you have a good turnout and a good time! Then come to Reno for the “Nationals” too!!

You would tell me this when I have already planned to be in Chicago on the 16th to the 18th… ARG! Too late to change now, then again I had several other things lined up while I’m in town and I was still going to email a few people and see if they wanted to get together.

Both of those weekends suck for me. If we did The first two weekends in august I’d be cool.
Bust open some of those venison steaks and I’ll be there. Even if I don’t have a blog. I’ll bring some nice vino to go with the steaks. Pick a day, Og. Cordite in the morning, vino and venison in the afternoon. Those that can’t make it can read about it later. (It will ensure they show up next time.)

We will be tied up with baseball into August. I will be avail in the fall. I could try and hook up for a mini-meet some evening as I am now in Chicago at least once a month.
Klas sounds like a great place to eat!
Let me work on something here.
Resturants near midway:
1. Bobak’s Sausage
2. Home Run Inn Pizza
3. Giordanno’s pizza
4. Portillos
5. Al’s Char House
6. Some decent mexican joint above Al’s Char House
7. Palmer House, – burger joint
8. Pappadeaux (cajun seafood joint)
1-4 – are within 5-10 minutes of the aiport
5-7 – Are located in la grange, about 10-15 minutes from MDW
8 – Is located in Downers Grove. That’s about 20-30 from the airport. Also in that range are any of a dozen mid to upscale fantastic places to eat. Webber Grill, Redstone, Champs are all located there.
Now…only flaw I see here is transportation to and fro the range in Ottawa. It’s about an hour and a half. Now, while I can drive (up to 4 in the crv) we would probably need additional drivers. There may be a train option, but that would be fairly long and transportation.
I can volunteer to make local arrangements for the Midway area, as I’m Dan L and I OWN the South Side. I grew up about 10 minutes away from Midway:)
Let’s get an email list going, so we don’t have to maintain this thread. No offense to my benevolent host, obviously, it just might be easier that way. Also at Moveonandshutup.org I have a forum which we can use if that sounds better. MOSU rules.
