MSF course
Tonight was the first night of my MSF course, and I have to say, based on what I’ve seen so far, everyone who drives should take this course. You have a greater respect for the difficulties of motorcycle driving, that’s for damned sure.
Class goes all week. Looking forward to it. Looking forward to having the bike on the road.

The experienced biker course is also a good one. I took that one a few years ago, and it was a challenge. There was a final riding test, and if you aced it, you got the course for free. No one got it. (and the scoring was totally fair)
My wife got tired of riding on the back of my bike and wanted to get her license. I was not about to try to teach her to ride, so I told her to take that course and I would get her a bike. She did and so I did ;-)
Just a side note: One of the exercises that they do is have the students come to a complete stop and then restart without touching the ground. There was a bit of grumbling that it was difficult…. It happens that one of the instructors is a trials rider. He rode up in front of the students, kicked his bike into neutral with it idling, then climbed up onto the seat, walked from one end of the bike to the other, then sat down, put it in gear and rode off. Amazing.
I have a buddy who retakes the MSF course every couple of years, just to retune on the basics. I figure I can do the same thing in an empty parking lot, but it’s a lot cheaper if you drop their bikes instead (’82 F-bike parts are getting harder to find).
I can just see you aboard that 125cc monster.Once you get those high handlebars and the backrest, you’ll be getting stares from all the hot babes.
(heheh)
Hey, Easyrider, wanna get a tatoo? hehehe
I’ll tattoo you. Knucklehead.
Good on you for the MSF course, og.
When I took it, they had 125cc Kawasaki GNs and 250cc
Honda Nighthawks. They took one look at me and put me
on the Nighthawk. Seriously, guys our size are at a
disadvantage on that small of a bike, because we’ve
got to wail the piss out of it just to get it to move.
At the time I owned a Yamaha XS850 triple, and had a
much easier time getting that one going.
Of course, it had one front brake and for a while the
rear brake was partially seized.
Got the Harley all shined up for Laconia. I’ll be
thinking about og on wheels while I’m riding up for
motorcycle week.
I took the experienced course back in ’00 just for fun. I ended up learning some things I had no clue about.
Definitely worth my while.
Never did do the basic course.
A tattoo is one of them fancy-shmancy things where you draw a picture on the inside of your ankle in ink and then hold your ankle next to the muffler, right?
Hehehe
