MSF course, day two
Tonight we rode. Last night was all classroom but tonight we rode the course, starting with rocking back and forth and moving up to shifting and braking, some swerving.
None of this was particularly hard, though I will say I’m gonna want a LOT more practice. And the instructors are patient and quick. I just wish I had a days worth of practice time between each session, but I got that mean old “job” to do.

I remember the MSF course fondly – took it in Upstate NY in the fall about 10 years ago. They had us do the riding exercises on these small 125cc Hondas, and most of us were pretty burly guys. One of the instructors burst out laughing during one of the exercises; he said that we looked like a bunch of circus bears on mini-bikes.
Overall, I think the course was absolutely worthwhile, not only to avoid having to deal with NY DMV, but also because of how much I found that I didn’t know about riding safely. Even though I gave the bike up when we moved back to Texas about 3 years ago, the MSF and riding techniques that I learned there have stayed with me. It was a blast.
