MSF course, day 3
Day three, and my thighs feel like I’ve been riding a horse all day.
Here’s the lot where they give the course, which is also where they give the BMV test.

It’s the Lake County Courthouse building, with the jail behind it. We have spent the last two evenings looping around the parking lot, and I have not yet fallen down. I plan to try, for if you have to scuff up a bike, it’s probably nicer if you can scuff up someone’s trainer bike. Shame, because the bikes we’re using are Suzuki GZ250s, which are pretty bikes. If small. I will note that the first one to drop a bike was a 110 lb girl, directly in front of me. I was torn between my desirte to get off the bike and help, and the instructor’s direction for me to go around. She’s ok, a little gravel in her hand. She was wearing cheap gloves.
Anyway. if I have a bitch about the course, it’s that you have almost no time to practice the moves- the one they test you on, the hardest one so far, I only got to do three times before they called us in.
I did pass the written with 100, however, and I hope I get enough practice in tomorrow so I can do better on the cycle test friday.
I also hope i can get SOME practice in this weekend. It’s gonna take me a long time behid the bars before I’m comfy doing this.

As long as you remember that you’re completely and totally invisible when riding, most of the other stuff is easy.
Just never, ever forget that.
Yeah, that’s the big deal, isn’t it? see and be seen, and assume everyone is ignorant.
Wait, I ALREADY do that.
You’re in great shape then.
When I had my last house/scoot, (pre-divorce) I’d ride from Rockwall to Grapevine (52 miles one way) just about every nice day that I could.
The bad part, I had to take 635 to get to the office.
92 cubic inches of motor running with straight pipes and no baffles at all made the cage drivers know I was there regardless of how loud their radios were up.
All in all, I only came close to getting killed a dozen times or so.
Kelly wants me to go buy a new one, bless her beautiful heart!
Well, damn. Send pictures.
It’s not part of the course, but it’s a dang good idea to log a few hours on a fairly heavy 4 stroke dirt bike. Some day when some bozo causes you and your bike to venture into off-road riding, it’s nice for that to not be your first try at it…..
Mr. C.
Mr C, that’s an excelleent idea and echoes what my instructors have said. They teach an off road class once a year, and if I haven’t killed myself by fall, I’ll register for it.
