We have a new associate pastor.

He seems a teenager, to these old eyes, but he’s OK, though he needs to spend some time working on his self confidence.

Sunday, he spoke of waking in the night to go to the bathroom, and how it was like the Catholic vision of Purgatory. The idea that you reach around the doorframe and turn on the light so you can slowly let your eyes become accustomed to the brightness. That purgatory was that time when we allowed our eyes, clouded with the sleep of sin, to gradually become capable of standing in G-d’s light.

A pretty good metaphor, actually. I hope he develops into the kind of guy who has that sort of inspiration all the time.

Tom Magliozzi dead at 77

Well, G-d rest his soul. Maybe we won’t have to listen to that insipid bullshit that passes for “Advice” anymore.

Oh, once upon a time, they actually did something useful once in a while, but in the main, they were a leftist pair of talentless shitbirds who spent more time pandering to their NPR audience than actually giving any useful advice. There used to be a little flowchart on their website that showed “Why you don’t really need an SUV”. Well, guys, I need an SUV because fuck you. You pompously whined that “You have no control over what people buy” with the understanding that you’d LIKE to have, front and center. Morons. Anyway, RIP, Tom, I will not spend a lot of time worrying about your useless show no longer being on the air.

Lunch with friends friday and saturday

and then work like a rented mule on sunday. I guess I ought to try to do a little bit at a time here and there instead of trying to do everything at once, all the time. But then I’ve never been all that damned smart. And now I’m beat like a rented mule.

Pictures of Saturdays lunch here. Fridays lunch was at $undisclosed_location.

Stumbled upon a great troubleshooting flowchart, and thought I’d share, its pretty well done. There are sidebar links to other things besides radiator stuff.
