it’s 8 here, now.

By the morning it will be brutally cold, and won’t be getting any warmer soon. I will be parked in front of the fire except when I’m lugging wood, and happy not to be several hundred miles away on a job.

yet.

Stay warm, folks, and stay hunkered down. This too will pass

Went to mass.

There were but few of us there. Went to breakfast at the Omelette House, and there was a sea of empty tables, I have NEVER seen an empty table not immediately filled there, not in years. Stopped for milk, because we were already out, got a fresh gallon of antifreeze, and came home.

The drive is easily six inches deep in snpw and will be deeper before it’s over, I won’t be snowblowing until it’s done or at least a lot later in the day, whichever comes first.

I have a job tomorrow out of town but I may take a snow day, more so because of the cold than the snow. And they supposedly got hit harder there than we did here. So For today, I have a self imposed snow day. I’ll get prepped for my upcoming weeks and declare myself snowbound

it doesn’t rain snow but it pours

On the way to a job yesterday the Exploder started making a really nasty noise, so I called in and turned around and limped home, hoping it would make it. It did, and Partner and I spent the rest of the day dismantling what I feared was a bad differential. We yanked it, (No mean feat) and dismantled it, but it seems to be OK. there is one wheel bearing that feels iffy and I have a spare, so we’ll change that, and I need to look hard at the Ujoint on the front propshaft, but at least I have a garage in which I can do this, and a torpedo heater that doesn’t smell to keep it warm. And I have a spare vehicle just in case, so it isn’t a disaster, but it certainly is an inconvenience. Today we reassemble and I can barely wait, which is why I’m up at such an ungodly hour.
