on your deathbed you lie there, waiting to die, thinking about all the effort that you made to keep yourself in shape, to eat right, to exercise properly, to avoid things that were bad for you, mind and body.
And what if in the next bed in the ward, there was a guy, also on his deathbed. Around him are friends and lovers, talking, arguing, laughing about all the things he’d done, all the bad decisions, all the escapades.
Can there be anything more miserable than to have lived a spotless life? I want to die fast and unknowing, or being gored by a buff or a tusker; but if I must die slow, let me be surrounded by those who remember me of my life, and the facts of having said “yes, please” to adventure and experience.
There are those who would say, about living this sort of life, “When you kiss X, you kiss everyone they ever kissed”
Bring it. I’d rather have kissed more people than I thought than less.
he links to a Reuters article you should read that says it’s a myth that Obamacare has taken 700 billion from medicare.
And the explanation of that myth includes the line:
“Obamacare does cut $700 billion in Medicare spending over a 10-year period.”
Huh?
it explains this by saying:
“the cuts are adjustments in payments to Medicare providers, which are mostly meaningless to patients.”
yep. because those providers don’t care if they get paid. They’ll keep doing what they do, for free!! The patients will not be affected at ALL.
This all reminds me of the post I did back here in 2010. Barney Frank was incensed that anyone would question the integrity of Fannie and Freddie and vociferously declaimed that they were sound.
And then eventually, after their little clusterfuck had done it’s part in the Won’s plan to destabilize the US Financial system, he “Came to his senses”.
The ignorance of the left on this is not accidental. They have no intent but to damage the integrity of our nation, and that’s that. And each time they inflict some other evil its all “that’s a lie! That’s not true! That’s a myth!”
For those under 50, who might not remember the movie, her’es a great synopsis of the scene in question by Larry Elder:
In the 1967 comedy “A Guide for the Married Man,” Joey Bishop’s wife catches him in bed with another woman. As his wife stands at the bedroom door screaming at the sight, Bishop and the mistress calmly get up, make the bed and get dressed. The mistress leaves. Bishop nonchalantly sits down in the living room, lights up a pipe, picks up the newspaper and casually leafs through it. “What bed? What girl?” Bishop says. The wife begins to doubt her own eyes, even her sanity. Finally, she turns to Bishop and meekly asks what he wants for dinner. The culprit convinced the victim that she must be nuts.
Now, I give you the Theme Song for the Democratic party:
ETA: I have always liked Orville Burrell or ‘Shaggy” as he is more commonly known, his voice is distinctive and amusing, but I had no idea he was a redleg, having served in Desert Storm as a canon crewman in Field Artillery. Ooorah!
Edited to add further: Pascal, did you say something about a Backhoe?
