Saturday was the maiden voyage of the Ace Case Range Bag. very nice indeed- made well, compartments etc in the right location and the right size, solid zippers, made in USA. And about the price of a chinese piece of crap.

I also tried out the Howard Leight Impact Sports, which I like a good deal because they are thin at the bottom and will allow me to cheek weld properly on a rifle. This was a Tam reccomendation, and it was a good one.

Painfully, the shooting itself was horrible. I will have to start shooting at a refrigerator box at four feet, and then back off a foot at a time when i begin to be able to reliably hit the box.

was a new bird, a black bird with a brown or reddish brown head and shoulders. The ogwife and I had never seen one before, so I dug up some info.

The cowbird is a plains bird that is making a resurgence in this area, and it is one of the types of birds that enjoys the pleasure of mating as often as possible, then lays it’s eggs in other birds nests, and lets the other birds feed and raise their young, often to the detriment of the other bird’s own young.

So I texted this to the Ogwife. She responded:

did a LOT of shooting Saturday, and realized just how much I suck. Then I did auto repair on Sunday, optometrist’s truck, and was happy to have been able to help him. And spending the day in the sunshine and warm air was a blessing. Weekend like that makes you glad you didn’t winter kill, as my uncle Calvin used to say.

And now back to the grind.
