Range day! Range Day! Party Time! Excellent

Yes, the first range day of 05.

Nephew and I packed every firearm I owned and drove to the range, and shot and shot and shot until I ran out of every type of ammo except rimfire.

I shot Ma Bell, my custom 30-06 mauser, made by Harry McGowan of Kankakee Illinois. I shot my 22 Remington 241 speedmaster. I shot my Arisaka I shot my ruger

I shot and shot and shot. I ran out of 30-06. I ran out of 7.62×39 (no, not all I have, just all I took to the range) and I shot until I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face. I shot until I hurt. I shot until I was sore.

The SKS was my best work. I love this little yugo rifle. The stock is beat senseless and I feel like if I sanded out all the dents it’d be a toothpick. Still, it shoots like blazes.

This is two ten round stripper clips. The flier is not me, it’s my nephiew shooting the Arisaka at the adjacent target. 25 yards, offhand. For a rifle that looks as though it was used to compact gravel, it shoots and shoots. I’ve got about 1200 rounds through it, and my intent is to shoot it until it fails, without cleaning, It galls me to treat a rifle like this, but I’m curious how much abuse it can take.

Can’t see to blog

Due to having my long eyes in, I have to type for a while then stand back about four feet and read what I’ve written.

My presbyopia is bad enough that in order to shoot effectively, I have several higher power contact lenses, one of which I insert into my right eye to shoot with. Makes it dang near impossible to see anything closer than 20 feet away.

What can be the meaning behind this?

I”M GOING TO THE RANGE.

Yes, it’s a LONG overdue range day. Range report to follow!
