I’m not a fan of racing, but I do like horses. I’m not partial to thorobreds, more to draught horses, but when you’ve been around horses, and see how intelligent they are, you hate to see any of them die. And when a famous one dies it makes me think of all the ones who had been mistreated, and died in pain or hunger. WHen I used to go out with dad, I saw some pretty sickly horses, and my heart hurt for every one.

In one of his movies, I don’t remember which, the Duke has a horse shot out from under him. laying there, his leg trapped under the horse, he says “Blue, you never gave me cause to cuss you in life…”

Rest in peace, Barbaro.

Yes, I have eaten horse meat. Everything dies, and is eaten by something else. Never understood what the big deal was.
