Last gasp

There are still plenty of Turkey leftovers to deal with, and since it was such a nice bird to begin with it’s very easy to think about eating it in coming days.

Partner and I reflected on the days when he would visit and have turkey at our house, then go have dinner at his house, and then go have dinner at a friend’s house. Three gigantic meals- all the families cooking extra just for us. We ate like swarms of locusts. And the next day, we’d be back to our same weight. There were no leftovers. The toilets would gag; our cars smelled like turkey farts for the rest of winter, lacking enough warm to keep the windows open for any time. And then we’d sing the Thanksgiving song, to the tune of “Roundabout”

I’ll make the rounds of dinners
As diners we’re the real winners
I’ll spend the day dining away
Call it munching chewing slurping doing
Anything to eat it……

Our stomachs bloat and distend
under the weight, our leg bones bend
I’ll spend the day dining away
Call it munching chewing slurping doing
Anything to eat it……

In and around the feast
Gluttons go back to their rooms
and they lay there
Full of turkey, pie, and dressing
later on our pant’s we’re messing
farting too
Twenty four before my stomach I’ll be
bloated too!

(With apologies to Howe and Anderson)

Have I mentioned recently

that i have a double rifle? I thought not. Hey, I have a double rifle!Anyway. I was an enabler of the first water today, I went out to the regular gunshop run with Partner, and they had a nice M1a at Blythes; Partner has been lusting after it a while and they dropped the price; I asked if they would drop it another $150, and they said they woud, and partner took out his wallet so fast it broke the sound barrier. So now partner has a rifle he feels about the way I feel about my double; it’s like having a huge wiener, you just want to take it out and show it to everyone.

More thankfulness

Forgot to mention a few specific thanks: To the 300 BC romans, who by most reasonable accounts first brined and cured bacon in large quantities to feed travelling troops. A bacon fuelled army? No wonder they nearly took over the world.

Also, to the ethiopian shepherd who first discovered the effects of the coffee cherry, and to the clever turks who first brewed it’s pit into coffee.
