Riding the storm out

Drove home from a side gig through a thrashing storm last night. Pouring rain and sheet lightning, cars slowed to a crawl. I found a semi headed northbound at 70 and stayed a half mile behind him, we did fine. I had the Ipod plugged into the stereo and I rode that storm with Tom Waits and Etta James and Toy Caldwell and JS Bach. On Shuffle the ipod did some weird superimpositions, like “Goldberg variations” on top of “This old cowboy” but it worked for me. Love a rainstorm, especially driving in one.

Lizzie Warren:

A couple of clues for you, since you are so utterly devoid of them.

All of those things that “businesses” used to do their business, that were paid for by taxes?

Do you know where those taxes came from?

That’s right, taxpayers.

Do you know why those taxpayers paid taxes? yes, when they earned money, or used that money to buy things, or pay fees, or whatever.

Do you know where they earned that money?

yeah. “Businesses”.

Instead of trying so hard to put an iron boot on the neck of those people who have literally financed everything on this planet, maybe you should get down on your knees and thank them for making EVERYONES life better.

And while you’re down there, give them a happy ending. It’s about the only thing youre really qualified to do.

G: I liked your post about xxxx
me: That’s nice.
G: you dont accept praise well
me: I don’t do this to please other people. I do it to please me.

I have for a very long time been whole and integrated. I don’t need anyones approval for anything, and I don’t seek anyone’s approval. I know that the work that I do (as in my day job) is beyond reproach, and so do the people I work with. I write because if I didn’t write, if I didn’t have this outlet, I’d probably be nuttier than squirrel shit.

It’s nice when people read. I like when people comment. I am happy when I can make people think, happiest when I can make people laugh. But I don’t aim for this, these things are all by products of me letting the voices out of my head.

I like to write because as I do, I sharpen the skills, and maybe I’ll eventually be able to do something that will make me some money- but this is not my particular aim.

In this, as in everything, I seek no approval and require none. Still. To those of you who keep coming, and keep commenting,

thanks.
