Substance.

Everybody is blogging about the president’s speech. His tie, his hair. His ill-use of the language.
I didn’t watch it all, I prefer the written to the spoken word, I read the transcripts later. I watched enough. What I saw, was something maybe other people didn’t see, and I wonder if I’m alone.

The presidency wears on people; Look at the inaugural pics and the retirement pictures of past presidents and you’ll see what I mean. Dubya is no different- he walks a bit more slowly, he has a few more lines in his face, he maybe even stoops- the weight on his shoulders must be more than any of us can possibly imagine. No, that’s not what i saw.

When all is said and done, some people will have to die.

Over at Baldilocks, there are a couple of great posts here and here which make the point that Dubya should have done something ahead of time, but only if he didn’t. Oh, hell, if it’s confusing, go read.

I couldnt say it as clearly as does Juliette. Nor with as measured sarcasm, she nails it.
No, all I can say with any certainty is that before this whole mess is straightened out, a lot of people are going to have to die.

This oughta please the wife, who would leave me for Sam Elliot in thirty seconds. Or, well, she would think hard about it, anyway.

No, I usually never take these quizzes, but it was there. And the Big Lebowski was a cool movie, And I DID like the stranger most of all.
