Help! The heat is sucking my will to live!

Finally, a little gloebull warmening. 88 here, and I’d oughta be outdoors clearing brush, but I’m inside watching Eddie Izzard and Harry Potter.

Fuck this heat.

OK, I’m going out in a bit. Let me get cooled down first.

Why on earth

can it be that my friends and neighbors in adjacent counties and states are inundated- nay, deluged, with rain, and wet weather, and MY lawn is the color of Scorch? I mean, I feel for the folks in the flooded areas, I really do- but can’t a guy get a rainstorm? Last weekend we were promised a downpour, I got ten drops. I LOVE rain. And I never seem to get any. They’re predicting heavy thunderbangers this week, and if you look at the radar picture, it’s a couple of lazy, wispy clouds. Peckerheads.

Sorry for the lack of postage

Spent a lot of yesterday doing yardwork, and this morning shooting this matchit’s been hard to stop grinning long enough to sit down and type.

I always approach the matches with a bit of apprehension, the idea that I’m not good enough, or will make a fool out of myself…

Well, I DO suck, but I also tend to suck less than others, and more than some, and it’s a good time, at the end of which I had a chance to shoot a little pocket 25 that was given to me (temporarily; It already has a home destined for it, now i know it shoots OK) and I will be bluing it and putting decent grips on it soon.

The match was rifle and pistol. I had a great time, and can’t wait for the results to see how much I sucked. I did place second in the head to head- two men shoot three falling plates each, and the first one to drop three wins. I made it through four elimination rounds to finish second, to a kid who looks like he shoots 500-900 rounds a day, based on his shooting. Damned impressive.

It’s nice to shoot at something not paper. I mean, I like making holes, as much as the next guy, but I like the reactive targets, the clays, the timed events. Very nice.
