December 2013

Ooof.

Early morning turkey farts in the shower. Not good.

It is here

That I am supposed to write something deep and thoughtful about the season.

I just can’t. I’m so tickled to just be alive that I cannot express it in words. I am surrounded by a bunch of literal grinches, and I love them so damned much I’ve decided to be the Christmas Spirit for them despite their grinchiness, and it fills me with great joy.

I hope for each of you that you have someone or something that brings you the joy I feel right now. I hope you hold that person/animal/shotgun/whatever close to you every day and feel the joy it brings you.

There are advantages to being a grouchy old bastard. It don’t take a bunch to make us really happy. Merry Christmas!

Evening mass

Is nice because it lets you sleep in. And you can enjoy the whole high mass, esp. since the priest for the 5:00 mass can carry a tune in a bucket and can make it through the whole mass without his voice crapping out. And since the Oglet is a teenager she’s more likely to sleep in than we are. So we get to listen to the begats, and then go home and eat. Play with max the Beagledog. Stoke the fire. A very low key Christmas. Tomorrow we roast a big turkey and sit around a dead tree eating candy out of our socks. Then work Thursday and Friday. I could take the time off but younger guys deserve the break, and ain’t much happening anyway. Hope your evening is this peaceful and this good. We aren’t doing much in the way of visiting/going out, so tomorrow we will most likely do a couple trips to the woodshed and that’s about it.
