I succeeded in training two guys in something I have only barely learned how to do myself, yesterday. And they didn’t seem to think I was a complete idiot. So there’s that.

Several hundred miles into yesterday I discovered that I had a club meeting tonight, so my day began and ended in one state while I visited three others. If I didn’t have the ability to tune out the morons I would already be in jail.

Club sponsored a gentleman to come give a demonstration of several knife sharpening techniques using different stones and sharpening systems. All were interesting and pretty impressive. We have a “How to avoid dying in a knife fight” presentation coming up, which another club member and LEO is putting on. I saw some of his moves and I wish I had learned them some time ago. We will also do CPR cert/trauma in August. Debate and discussion at the club is lively and animated; I am happy to see them like this and I’m happy to see fresh blood showing up for meetings (We had FOUR new members tonight)

Today, a side trip to East Peoria and a couple of hours climbing in a hole too small for a midget let alone a full sized man. But, at least I’ll get to lay in slime while I do it.
