Dang.

Six years ago, week before last, Acidman passed away. I’d forgotten it was the end of June, one of my trips through my bloglist took me there and reminded me.

Love him or hate him, there wasn’t anyone like him. I aspire to be that big a pain in the ass, but as a general rule, he was the unequalled master. A comment from him warmed you all over, to have the imprimatur of his words. A post about you or that refers to you(The link is broken but here’s the original post he linked to) was downright amazing.

We miss you, Acidman. Hope wherever you are the beer is cold, the broads are hot, and the guitars are all CF Martin dreadnoughts.

Hot!

Yesterday Ed opines:

Lord, we praise and thank You for the invention of air conditioning, and for the chemistry, the laws of physics, and the laws of thermodynamics that make it possible in the first place. We thank You for the inventiveness You have graced us with, with the creativity You have provided, and for our ability to use the gifts You have given us to make ourselves more comfortable and our lives better.

Amen.

I’ll give that an Amen.

Yesterday after the Oglet passed her driving test I came home to discover that the outdoors part of the the AC was not working properly.

Some investigation confirmed that the unit was only getting 135 of the hoped-for 220 volts. So I futzed with it till I discovered one of the screw terminals not tightened as much as it could be, which brought the desired voltage in spec.

Has been working nicely ever since, thank you, and I must echo Ed’s statement.

The Oglet

has her driver’s license.

May G-d have mercy on my soul.

On the tother side of it, it will be fun- if I can afford it- to send her to the same Skip Barber school I went to lo those many years ago.
