So the AR still is not technically complete. I will post pictures as soon as I can, but here’s the lowdown.
The receiver was purchased for $75 out the door at the last Indy 1500. I was filling out the 73 when Tam wandered by and smacked the inside of her arm- “The first hit is free!” Well, it wasn’t quite free, but it was cheap. The day after i sold the zook to Ed Hering I sent a check off to Sarco for one of their parts kits.
The parts kit has been assembled; it went together like butter. I cannot, of course, install the gas tube or properly install the forend until I tighten the barrel nut, and I haven’t yet staked the gas key, but I hope to have both those things done before next weekend, when I intend to do some shooting.
The function check on the hammer and disconnect is flaky, I’m digging around for info on that but I am not surprised as the kit is very inexpensive; I expect a little work or better quality parts will fix it, I will find out soon.
Anyway, yeah. $485 for an M4gery. Not including shipping and whatever it’s gonna take to get the trigger working properly.
I obviously didn’t get a good deal of sleep.
Actually that’s not true, I slept like a log, but I was up at five assembling.
sort of surprisingly, the whole deal is easy as hell to assemble, (Though I had to use all five hands to put the damned ejector in, and I shot it across the room twice requiring me to get on my knees and search in semidarkness for a part less than a half inch long and the diameter of a pinhead)
I haven’t wrung in the barrel yet, i’m gonna borrow a wrench and action block this afternoon. Otherwise, it’s together and looks like it will be fun to shoot. I also need to wring in the gas key bolts and stake them, but that’s a simple thing.
All told, it’s an M4gery with a detachable carry handle (I’ll be getting a Fakog to put on it someday) for $485
