But Mike Rowe has a handle on it. His website is devoted to the idea that, hey, maybe it’s important that the world has plumbers and carpenters and auto mechanics. And that maybe those people are just as important as academics and accountants and maybe even enviromentalists. I like the money quote on that:
” I’m weary of being lectured by people who seem to care more about the planet than the people on it. Hollywood and Washington have shaped the issue, and now, all things Eco-friendly are up for sale.”
Damn.
Mike being a Hollywood type himself may not be the expert on everything, but man, it’s refreshing to see anyone who is this far in the public eye even talking like this.
Damn: Edited to add, hat Tip Carteach, without whom I would not have stumbled onto this in the first place.
I ate a bananna on the way to work, and rather than let the skin moulder in the carpet, I put it in my coffee cup. Last night, i dumped out the nanner and filled the cup full of popcorn to eat on the way home.
So all day today I’m drinking bananna/popcorn flavored coffee.
Not optimal.
Replaced the right front wheel bearing and the lower balljoint, because of an imbalance-sounding noise. I just had the tires rotated and balanced, it’s a chuffchuffchuff sound that at first I thought was a brake and at first was intermittent. Now it’s full time and starting to harsh my mellow. I’m damned if I can find it. The brake is fine, the wheel bearing is new, the tires are only a few months old and recently balanced, the front axle has recently been resealed and refilled. I don’t know what else to do at this point but wait for it to break and fix it. I hate this kind of car BS.
