We went to White Castle, then Taco Hell, the McDonalds, then finally ended up at Burger King to try to get something to eat; we managed to get the last food Burger King jamed through the window tonight. Apparently you have to be Jewish to know where all the all night chinese places are.
It struck me during mass that there’s so much that atheists and agnostics miss, not being able to celebrate this moment of belonging to something not only bigger than ourselves, but as big as creation itself.
And then it dawns on me, I have this wonderful gift that gets renewed every year, about this time.
Gwan ahead and not buy any of this “God” stuff, you dorks. I got enough Faith for us all.
I can’t conceive of anythiing I’ve ever done to deserve it, but that’s sort of the point, I guess.
Merry Christmas to you all. Most of you have improved my days, some of you have improved my life. You all deserve more than I can ever give you. May the Creator come through where I cannot.
SPEED is running a GEARZ marathon- I enjoy the show, apart from Stacey David’s 1978 haircut. Earlier today he did a segment on Cash for Clunkers, and he was dead nuts on. The vehicles turned in were left in yards for a short time, then lost forever. The long term effects of this are going to be with us car nuts for a while. You can see the whole episode here- it’s obvious what Stacey thinks of our Ear Leader. Anyway, you can read about the episode and watch it online here
I like to see rain. I don’t really like the kind of rain we get, the freezing sleety stuff, that chills your bones and makes you wish you were in Boca. Of course, that rain does make it ever more pleasant to sit by a warm fire.
No, I dream of the rain that comes out of a dark sky in late summer, thrashing lighting and big drops, rain I used to love to sit out in, or work in. hell, this kind of rain. A rain not to brace against, but to immerse yourself in, to cleanse your spirit. I could use some of that now.
Maybe we all could.
