Thou shalt not

miss this excellent post by Mr Porretto.

Some anencephalic slime creature, in comments to a Townhall.com post, opines that since Hillary Rodham Antichrist “claims” to be “for the poor” she is. (scroll down for the comments comparing her to republican policies)

This puts me to mind of Mencken, who opined in a similar vein:
“An idealist is one who, on noticing that a rose smells better than a cabbage, concludes that it will also make better soup”

Forget the aroma. Go for substance every time.

Actual hunting

Wandering around the field yesterday with an actual rifle with actual cartridges felt damnably good. Like the state of indiana figured out I’m actually responsible to carry a repeating rifle.

Lots of deer. No bucks. Have to bring my antlers afield so I can do some rattling tomorrow. Plus, while I’m pretty scent free, turns out the stand I’m working isn’t. Will change that tomorrow.

Nice time of year to be hunting. I love being out in the field, I’m more comfortable there than anywhere else. And there’s so much to see, if you can be still- I saw turkeys, hen pheseants, squirrels by the dozen, and even a nimrod or two. (yes, some teenagers had driven a stolen Blazer into the field and were trying to unstick it. They ran off and the DNR had to go extract it, and return it to it’s rightful owners)
