My life is better than it might have been if they hadn’t done their job. I missed having them around, but not as much as I’d miss the freedoms they protected.

This is the predominant reason I’m so adamant about using the processes we have to make things better here now. It seems an insult to them not to at least try. And of course nobody has yet voiced a reasonable and possible alternative.
