You may not realize it

But the rapture did come.

Pity was, there was nobody worth taking. You can just see Jesus with his globe (Which is actually the real planet earth) spinning it left and right “OK, lets see, there was that guy in french Guyana… no, he was involved in that goat thing- but then there was the guy in Alabama… no, he and his wife have done some strange things to their kids… how about… nah…” eventually he’s spinning the planet like a rolodex, and just can’t find a soul worth saving.

A poll:

When you cheek weld, do you relax or tense the masseter muscle? (the muscle that closes your jaw) I’ve tried both ways and there are pros and cons both ways, I’m curious what the consensus is, and why. For the record: I don’t on small, light recoiling rifles, like rimfires or centerfires up to (Non magnum) 30 caliber; on magnums and larger rifles (especially light rifles of large caliber) I tend to clench that jaw, because I’ve found that relaxing the muscle does two very important things: 1: Gives me a bruise on my cheekbone, and 2: jars my teeth half out of my head. The clenched muscle acts as a sort of cushion to my face.

damned rain

Club was packed with a 3 gun match, and so Partner and I went to Kingsbury- actually, it was nice to get back there- of all the DNR ranges this will always be my favorite, it’s clean, well run, the rangemaster is a good guy, not too many morons. We set out to sight in the scope on Partner’s Gibbs replica 03-A4 rifle. I wasn’t about to shoot the Arisaka at the crowded range; though I trust my work I still test it. And I was damned if I was gonna take any kind of risk where other people are around.

Anyway, the 03a4 shoots nice, but the barrel seems to grow and the point of impact move around. It might well be the scope mount; they have apparenly a notoriety for shooting loose, but it certainly didn’t feel loose. So we’ll loctite it, shoot it again, shoot it a lot, and see if the barrell settles in after a few hundred or a thousand rounds.

Damned fine rifles. Even for a replica. I’d have loved to see one of the origiasl Star Gauged rifles, with that lovely Unertl scope. Or, for that matter, one of those Pope Krags.

Best thing ever is to have a friend who has the disposable income to spend on toys like this, and lets you play with them
