Saw 300

It’s a shame that the lessons of history have to be taught via movie versions of comic books.

I never cry in movies. This one got to me. A damned good movie.

yeah, the historical portion of it is not completely accurate- of course, we can’t know what dialog occureed between the spartans. The description of the Spartan Phalanx is off, or was never meant to be accurate. At the core of it, the movie is true to this: An invading horde seeks to enslave a democratic group of free peoples. The free peoples are lulled to inaction by the traiterousness of those in it’s midst. A very few rough men defend the free with their lives. No more perfect analogy can be drawn to the situation today.

Range day! Range day! Party Time! Excellent!

So yesterday I went to the range, to sight in a new scope, and discovered in the process that I need about .060 milled off the bottom of my rear scope base. Which I’ll have to do later in the week, when I can get some machine time.

In the meantime I put some shims under the front and got close- but the shims allow the mount to move around, so I will have to get the bases at exactly the correct height. It occurs to me that I might see if I can get undersized mounts and line bore them in place on the rifle. Anyone ever see those? Also, I’m concerned that the scope isn’t getting twisted, so I was looking at the spherical bushing mounts. The old scope/base wasn’t nearly as critical, being lower powered and lighter-duty.
