And why do I end up working with them?
In the kitchen at the office with someone today who said “We need a social medicine system- like Canada.” She said this with a straight face. She believed this bullshit.
What kind of an idiot do you have to be to put faith in these pretty little lies?
mrs D is showing off some of the artwork done by her daughter Wendy.
it’s good work. it shows talent and skill. And something else: the ability to do good work even at a young age and not be a goddamned drama queen about it.
Mr Alger and i have had this discussion before. The “tortured artist” types who invent their own drama so they can “suffer for their art” drive you nuts.
Sure, there were artists whose private lives were full of trouble and it affected their art- but it’s like Charlie Parker’s heroin addiction. Heroin wasn’t what made Charlie great. imitating Charlie by shooting heroin didn’t make you a great Jazz musician. And creating suffering for yourself doesn’t make you a great artist. It just makes you an asshole.
Good for you, Wendy. Nicely done.
Tiller running, dirt in danger
I put a carb kit in the tiller. Figured out by accident that it wasn’t running because the vent hole in the gas cap was clogged, the gas tank would prevent fuel flow to the carb. One 3/64 drill later, new filter, fresh oil, it runs like new.
This was my uncle Calvin’s Troy Bilt. He bought it in 1972. He used it (and a Gravely) to farm a 6 acre strawberry farm. A very nice place. I’m happy to have this, it reminds me of him, and i love my uncle Calvin like I love my Dad. I have Dad’s tractor, too. Anyway, with new filters etc, they’re sitting together in the shed now, yapping at one another.
If I can get my ass ready for the NOR shoot, I might just be able to get the motorcycle out in June.
