The Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Kim recently commented about the fact that we- almost literally- dodged a bullet when the end run on our firearms rights was defeated.

here’s the thing, for people who don’t get it.

I spent my apprenticeship in what, next to actual coal mines, was the filthiest place on the planet. I saw “actual” hazards. And then I saw Osha and the MSA enact regulations that had nothing to do with actual job hazards, but more to do with ways to make lawsuits more profitable for individuals who put themselves in harms way in order to have a payday.

Sure, in the early days, Osha was an important thing; however, like all gummint agencies it became the same bloated bureaucracy that the unions are, sucking the life from manufacturing and making it more and more difficult for people to do their jobs.

Osha has been at least as dangerous to manufacturing in the last ten years as the EPA, or NAFTA. Watch these bastards, they are in the pockets of the trial lawyers, lock stock and barrel.

Papa’s got a brand new troll

ringaninganinganinganinganing!

One of my illegitimate blogfathers, Mark Alger, has a new troll called Lou. Lou is a hippie. Apparently, an illiterate hippie, because of the things to which he “eludes”(sic)

Here’s a little primer on the truth, Lou, because apparently you’ve missed it:

Liberal/socialist/communist plans have always failed, will always fail, have never succeeded, will never succeed. No matter which new broom attempts to sweep the old failures under the rug, they always fail. Conservatives don’t always get things right, but liberals always get everything wrong. Always have, always will. Don’t take it personally, we know you’re only delivering the official party line, and it amuses us no end. Just try to stretch those neurons a bit, and discover the truth.

A couple of examples: Freedom of speech does not mean the freedom to tell dick jokes on the radio. Freedom does not lie solely in the ability of a woman to kill a fetus. Freedom means people doing things YOU don’t like, and saying things you don’t like, too. Like the unequivocal fact that liberalism is a disease like Islam is a disease, and the fewer humans have it the better the world is.

The truth about Harry Potter.

All this time you think you’ve been reading a kids book, right?

The fact is, the kids, the series, is an allegory for conservatism/libertarianism. No matter what you may think of the series, here it is in a nutshell: Hogwarts teaches magic. The magic conservative kids are taught is reason. Hogwarts requires kids not to use magic outside the classroom. Conservative kids are taught to keep their talents to themself, so as to make it through the “normal” educational system without ridicule.

Order of the Phoenix drove the message home more than ever. Freedom and decency are good. “Ministry” interference is bad. Blindness to the truth is bad. Can it be any clearer?
