Hot days, wet nights

When I was in Zambia hunting, we had a crew of support people that saw to our comfort. It wasn’t all the comforts of home, mind you, but we didn’t want for anything major.

We had one major luxury, though. In the middle of the afternoon our camp cook would start up a little generator and plug it into a little freezer, and in the freezer, he’d place a couple sixes of Coke.

African Coke tastes like Kosher for Passover coke, because it’s made with sugar and not corn sweetener. Coming back into camp at the end of a sweaty day and grabbing an icy-cold Coke, possibly one with ice crystals swimming around in it, was pure heaven.

Once in a while, I throw a Kosher coke into the freezer, just to remind me. Yesterday was one of those days, today might well be another.

I do enjoy mowing

it’s the stiffness in the legs after that makes it difficult to deal with. And I think I’m gonna have to overhaul the engine in the pushmower.

No rest for the wicked.
