I asked John Venlet about this earlier, and I trust his suggestions.
I am looking to now go back to maybe trying to learn to fly fish, now that I can feel my hands. John suggested this which I’m pretty sure I’m gonna go buy tonight. It’s a little outside my budget but I can make do. Anyone else have personal experience with a low-end entry level fly rod package in the $50 range? If not I’m gonna go back to what I expect is excellent advice, because John has actually used this rod and finds it acceptible.
I currently pick range brass into a BSA bag I got at the last Shot show. It is very appropriate, and does the job well, but it’s somehow not as amusing.
I tend to have an odd sense of… whimsy, for lack of a better word. I use an air-polluting 46 year old tractor to mow my lawn, and a similarly aged tiller. I have a Kindle on which I have read very few books written in this century- or the last one, for that matter.
What I want is the “greenest” damned bag I can get, to collect brass. I had a Trader Joes bag but that just doesn’t have the right cachet. I had a Tiffany’s bag, but that’s just not headed in the right direction. If they made a “Prius” bag that would be closer, and a “Brady campaign” bag would be nearly PERFECT, especially if it had a big “Recycled” log on it, but I don’t know if any such thing exists. Anyone have any suggestions? If you do please link me to a place where I might get what you describe.
and the difference in my hands is startling. I can feel everything, i can move my hands into any position without tingling and numbness, and I can actually WORK. I can sleep at night without waking up every hour.
I am still a bit tender in the heel of my hands but I am told that could take up to three months to go away. In the meantime I won’t be shooting any high powered handguns.
What this does mean is that I might well be able to draw and fire a bow, which excites me, and I might actually have enough sensitivity in my hands to go fishing again. I’m looking forward to both.
