Since it seems to be the thing of the day, here’s a giraffe picture I took in Mpika.

It was drizzling, and the sound of the rain must have masked our approach, but even when they realized we were there they just stared at us and kept eating. The biggest female got between us and the colt, eventually, but took her sweet time.
Here’s the colt.

The closest we got was about 20 feet. That was plenty close enough for me because I’ve seen them fight.

My dear old friend and confidant Mlle Jenny links me to this, last night.

Lookit them crackers play. And i bet not one of them was on coke or dope at the time, just good old brown liquor. Right out of the era of “Mad Men”. And these were the first time around for these songs, outside the black community. They were already being reprised when it was Herb Alpert doing them in the 60’s and 70’s.
